Buddy Movie is a boy/girl buddy movie road trip coming of age comedy.
Following the success of THE INBETWEENERS, SHAUN OF THE DEAD, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS and SUBMARINE, me and my mate Andy Squires thought we would write a quirky British comedy along the lines of WITHNAIL & I that would appeal to a broad audience, including the States. We also thought we’d make it about mates. Because everybody has mates! Except losers.
BUDDY is represented (along with our other screen projects) by a very good agent in the UK and we are now looking for a director and producers. We getting great feedback so far, so that’s good…

A WEE BIT ABOOT THE FILM
Johnno just can’t seem to get it together. He’s 30, still living with his parents and his best friend is a childhood mate who initially only hung out with him because his mum bribed her with sweets.
Sacked from his job for being a redundant human being, Johnno returns home to find his Dad gently asking him to leave home so he can hang a sex swing in the doorway of his room. To cap it off, the only potential girlfriend he has has pre-dumped him.
When offered a shady job driving a caravanette with a mystery package inside from the northern tip of Scotland to the southern tip of England, Johnno decides to turn the opportunity into the road trip of his life.
Not brave enough to go it alone but low on sidekick options, Johnno invites his best and only friend, Bea, along for the ride. Bea is 24 and living happily on the dole and with her gun-toting, ex-con parents in the same town. She’s fantastically cheery, oddly philosophical and wise, but can also be a bit… slow.
From the off, the trip goes wildly wrong, largely because Bea is more idiot than savant. A proposition with a farmer goes tits up, a car chase leaves the caravanette bullet-riddled, and the love of Johnno’s life mistakenly gets the impression that Johnno is beating Bea up. To make matters worse, the farmer is trying to kill them and their caravanette might be full of drugs. Uh oh.
The pair must remain out of sight from this psycho farmer and the good old British coppers in the very conspicuous caravanette if they are to deliver the goods, claim the bounty and have a chance at a new start in life.
Friendships are tested to the limit and the stakes are high in this British buddy roadtrip comedy.
